BELGRADE, Serbia – Recently, the European Detachment of Tsinghua University’s “Zhixing Program” visited the on-site projects of PowerChina in Serbia, conducting an in-depth inspection of benchmark projects of China’s infrastructure “going global”. The delegation gained insights into the era-defining achievements of China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) cooperation from the frontlines and witnessed the vivid practice of China-foreign connectivity from a youth perspective.

On February 24, the detachment paid an on-site visit to the Serbia Convention and Exhibition Center and the National Football Stadium projects undertaken by PowerChina. As key national projects of Serbia and the core venues for the 2027 Belgrade Specialized Expo, these two landmarks are not only fruits of modern infrastructure construction, but also vivid symbols of political mutual trust and people-to-people bonds between China and Serbia.

As a leading enterprise deeply rooted in Serbia, PowerChina has launched more than 20 projects locally, covering key fields such as energy, transportation and municipal administration. Faced with challenges including tight construction schedules, complex cross-professional coordination and difficulties in local communication, the Chinese team has efficiently advanced the construction with “Chinese standards, Chinese speed and Chinese quality”. It has built a 52,000-seat national stadium capable of hosting World Cup and European Cup matches, as well as a convention and exhibition center leading in scale in Southeast Europe, winning high recognition from the Serbian government and all sectors of society.

During the forum, members of the detachment gained an in-depth understanding of the practical achievements of China-Serbia infrastructure cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and felt the global competitiveness of China’s engineering technology up close. This research made them truly realize that the “going global” of Chinese enterprises is not only the output of technology and projects, but also inseparable from the in-depth integration of cross-cultural communication, localized operation and compliant management. Each high-quality project serves as a solid bridge for China-foreign friendship and win-win cooperation.

The detachment held an exchange forum with PowerChina Serbia Branch.

In the future, members of the detachment will take their youth and striving spirit, firmly serve the country’s opening-up strategy, promote people-to-people connectivity between China and foreign countries, and contribute youth wisdom and strength to building a community.
